Freshly Ironed Shirt

Hello friends : ) Today I want to share a card I created inspired by the  Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I needed a thank you card for my BFF's Mom who recently sent me some new shirts!! This mom is so sweet.  She often sends a little gift assortment to my BFF and almost always includes something for me.  It is cool stuff like multi colored shower caps or little jackets for your lemon wedges or my favorite toothpaste! It's wild!! I guess she just shops for bargains and then passes them along.  Well, when my friend returned from spending several weeks with her Mom she brought me several bran new shirts that her Mom had been collecting for me!!  : )

Here is the Thank You card I will be sending her : ) and the card I will be entering in the FMS challenge. Perhaps you will join me in the gallery too!

Thanks a bunch for stopping by!! Have a wonderful day.

Fun Friday with Patti and Penny Black

Fun Friday with Patti and Penny

Welcome to my weekly post where I get to share some beautiful new products from Penny Black's newest release "Welcome Winter 2018

This week I wanted to showcase the versatility of the snowy scene in the "Winter Days" stamp set.  Each year I make between 35 and 55 Christmas cards so I try to design cards that are not terribly time consuming.  The cards I will share with you today were incredibly fast and easy to make.

For my first card I began by masking the card face with 1" Post It Tape™.  I sponged a light dusting of pink ink on the upper portion and the same light dusting in blue on the lower portion of the opening.
Next I expanded my mask a little on three sides but left the 1" mask on the lower portion in tact before I stamped the snowy scene in black ink.  I removed all the masking and added my sentiment and beautiful die cut deer.  It might have taken me me longer to write up how I created the card than it took to make it! : )

My second card was even easier to make.  I stamped the entire snowy scene using Versafine, Smokey Gray, ink.  Then I stamped my sentiment in a dark red.  Done!! : )

Another perfect fit for this image is for a Sympathy Card.  Unfortunately winter time is a time we seem to need more of these kinds of cards.  I love how this card turned out.  I added a shimmer to the falling snow and the snow on the ground using Wink of Stella. It is elegant while being respectful.

With only a few minor adjustments this card would also work as a Christmas card or a masculine winter birthday card.

That is it for another Fun Friday post : ) I hope you enjoy your weekend.  Any fun plans?? I'm planning some time in my craft room.  I have agreed to make 20 Christmas Cards for my step Mother for a gift my sisters and I are cooking up.  Penny Black's  "Welcome Winter" release. couldn't have come out at a better time for me!

Whatever it is you get to do this weekend I hope you will be smiling as you do it!!

Thankful for you

Hello friends : ) How is November treating you so far? This is our first New Mexico fall and we are loving it!! Today my husband and I took a 9 mile bike ride.  It was 75 here today! Thank you Jesus!!

I thought I would share a card I made that I would like to enter in one of my favorite challenges.

I wanted a CAS, faux one layer, card that appeared to have dimension. Starting with a Cream colored A2 panel I stamped my sentiment and then scored a line underneath to accentuate the sentiment without adding bulk. Unfortunately the score line is not super easy to see in the picture.  Next I die cut my sprig of foliage. I set the die aside for a future project and then mounted the Cream panel to a Kraft card base.

Inside I added a Cream panel and stamped the image directly on to it.  I added my sentiment and now it is ready to send to someone I am VERY grateful for : )

The "Inspired by Words"  challenge at Time Out Challenges is:

I'm so very grateful for the friends the Lord has brought in to my life. : )

I hope you will consider playing along with the Time Out Challenge.  Please don't fail to check out the blogs of the talented DT .  You'll be so inspired!

Fun Friday with Patti & Penny #3

Oh my goodness where did this week go? and while you are searching - where did October go?!

Happy November everyone and welcome to my self proclaimed weekly event:

Fun Friday with Patti & Penny

That's me and Penny Black and some pretty terrific product that is new in the Welcome Winter 2018 release.

For my cards today I focused on Red and White, my favorite color combination for holiday cards.

Card #1 uses the small spray of flowers from the Joyful Holiday #30-497 stamp set as well as the "Hello" from Holiday Hello #51-460 colored with Prisma Pencils.

Card #2 uses a sentiment from the new set called Christmas Bunch #30-520 as well as a couple of my "old" favorite products, Gingerbread Cottage #51-371 and Scrolls Half Edger #51-446.  I thought the scrolls made the perfect impression of swirling snow : ) tied up with some red and white Baker's Twine.

Card #3 uses a beautiful sentiment from the  Smile All Season stamp set #30-516 as well as another image from the Joyful Holiday #30-497 set - a sweet vintage mail box.  I added a dusting of Wink of Stella to the snow but unfortunately it doesn't show up in the picture. I used another one of my "old" favorite Penny Black products called Border Edgers #51-231 to simulate drifting snow that I attached with foam tape for added dimension.

All three of my cards were QAEP  -  quick and easy peasy!! : )

What are your plans for the weekend?  After a week of washing windows inside and out we are treating ourselves to a trip to El Paso where there is a HUGE craft fair going on.  : ) It was actually my husband's idea!! Yep! he's a keeper! : )

Have a wonderful weekend! and thanks so much for stopping by!

Let's Make Lemonade!

My younger sister went through surgery this past week.  She is doing remarkably well!! thank you Jesus!!

My sister is kind and gentle and has a warm and comforting way about her.  I have prepared a few little treats to mail her during her 4 to 6 week recovery.  These three cards are going out this week.  I wont sign them but rather give them to her in a gift pack so that she can send them out as needed to people she might choose to bless.

The stamp set I used for these little cuties is called "Homemade" by Penny Black.

The sentiment on this one was computer generated.  It was inspired by one of those inside family jokes.  Inside it reads:

It's nice to have a friend.

Last but not least... Life is just a bowl of cherries : )

These adorable mice crack me up.  I have actually seen a few mice in my day giggles! and not one of them looked this cute!  They sure make me smile! I hope they have the same effect on my kid sister.

I will be entering my trio in the gallery at AAA Cards challenge blog where the prompt is "Kindness".

Have a wonderful day! and thanks a bunch for stopping by : )

Bird under the wire

Edited to add:

I was so surprised and blessed to see that I was selected as a winner at The Card Concept!! Thank you thank you!!

Hello friends.  I have been trying to perfect a card for Loll's CAS Christmas card challenge all week! With just 2 hours left until the challenge closes I guess I need to settle on this card : )

My card design was CASED by a card I created in December of 2014.  I am entering Papertrey Ink's Transformation Tuesday for the very first time : ).  I used to do lots of challenges with PTI but when Nichole sold the company (mean almost the very next day!)  I could no longer access either the PTI blog or the PTI store! gasp!! I contacted them but they said they had not done anything that would explain the problem.   : ( I assumed my dinosaur computer was the culprit when Walla! just last week I tried again and it all worked just fine.  Hmmmmm strange! But no matter why it didn't work but now it does work... it works! so I can play with PTI and their fun challenges! : )

The colors for my card were inspired by this beautiful inspiration photo at The Card Concept challenge blog.

Thank you so much for stopping by! See you on Friday : )

It's not goodbye..... it's see you later.

My card today is for the family of Melissa Lane.  Melissa, owner of Honey Bee blog was one of Blogland's sweetest members.  She passed away suddenly at the age of 47.  I never got the opportunity to meet Melissa but she touched my life in the correspondence we enjoyed and especially by her love for Jesus.   My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

The team at STAMPlorations is hosting a special tribute to Melissa.  I hope you will visit and enjoy seeing some of her beautiful creations.  Perhaps you would like to send a Butterfly to her family as well.

See you later, Melissa.

Which is better?

Which is better... Friday or a new release from Penny Black?  I say... why choose!?

Every Friday from now until mid December I will be posting cards I have made with some really terrific product from Penny Black's newest release "Welcome Winter".  It will be like...

"Fun Fridays with Patti and Penny" heeheehee

Here are two different ways I used the new Tweet Wreath stamp.

For my first card I used three different metallic embossing powders to create a kind of elegant effect.

My second card also uses embossing powders but this time I used Detail White.  I really love the effect of using white EP on white paper especially when you introduce some color like I did here by sponging a green circle for the wreath to lay on.

I really love the sentiment on this card too.  Nothing could be truer : )

All supplies by Penny Black:
Both cards used Tweet Wreath #40-630
Card #1 Rejoice die cut  #51-251
Card #2 sentiment from Smile All Season # 30-516

Thank you so much for stopping by.  I have been enjoying lots of time in my new craft room this week.  I can't wait to show you all the cards I have been creating.  I also can't wait to get back to a regular schedule of visiting your blogs too!!  I'm so excited to say that my life is finally back to normal!!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sugar n Spice

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice! describes a darling little girl that is about to turn one year old.  She was born three months early and never expected to survive but survive and thrive she did PERFECTLY! Thank you Lord!! for hearing our prayers!

I originally found the template to create this card in a Papercrafting magazing in 2009.  I cut it out by hand and printed the "Sugar n Spice" on the computer : )  I hope the birthday girl likes it!!
