Some Fun

Over at the Papercrafts site I joined a "Spring Toss" hosted by Christy. Here are some gum holders I created to send to a couple of the ladies I'm assigned to "toss" to. : )

They were fun and real easy to do. I just laid the gum down on my paper and measured where the cutting and folding needed to be. Easy smeasy!!

Happy 16th Birthday

Patrick! I miss you I hope you get your card in time!! BIG (((((Hugs))))) from us.

February 2009!

February already? This has been the coldest winter I have ever spent in Wisconsin. We have enjoyed lots and lots of snow but it has mostly been too cold to go snowmobiling! Well, today the temperature soared to an astonishing 40+ degrees so ---> what could we do but hit the trails!!
It was a fantastic day made more so because our two son's came to ride with us. A rare treat!!
They tell us the temperature will drop again in the coming week but our hearts are warm and blessed of God because He is at work and we are seeing miracles everywhere we look! Praise the Lord!

This month I will be enjoying my House Mouse calendar page. I received this image in an image swap and it is one of my favorites!! Who doesn't love a House Mouse??

Happy Birthday!!

I have some special family and friends with birthdays in January: my grand daughter, Katelyn, my great niece, Macie, two of my sisters-in-law, Colleen and Joan, and my friends, Chris, Anne and Cheryl. Happy Birthday one and all. : )

love, me.

My friend, Susan, gave me an award!

A Fabulous Blog Award! and coming from Susan this is quite an honor!! In order to accept my award I need to confess 5 addictions that I have. Then I must select 5 of my favorite blogs and ask them to do the same to collect their award! : )

I hate to be a party pooper but I actually don't have any addictions LOL I'm not being snooty here - let me explain! I know this about myself because ---> I have thought at times that I WAS addicted but when I attempted to go without I found I was able to without minimal "pain" So here is a list of some things that I desperately want but can, if I have to, live without : ) hows that? do you think I'll still get the award?? We'll have to see what the judges have to say!

1. DIET PEPSI! it runs in my veins
2. Chocolate well, it doesn't run in my veins but I wish it did and down my chin and off the tips of my fingers!
3. Paper : ) when I buy paper I must buy at least two sheets of the same color because otherwise I don't want to use it. Because if I use it then it'll be gone. I do the same thing with stickers which is really weird because I don't ever use stickers in my card making! I just love stickers LOL
4. Laughter. I actually laugh every day! I love my life and I love my husband. He is the best person I have ever known and BONUS he is really funny! If I don't laugh at some point during even the worst day I feel I am forced to play a joke on my DH like hide his toothbrush or short sheet his side of the bed so that when he attempts to get ready for bed I'll have something to laugh at : ) It hardly ever comes to that .... he usually hides my toothbrush or...... LOL
5.water! I think I am actually addicted to water. Does that count? LOL I'm so boring heehee

Ok lets see what my friends:
Susan
Jen
Katie
Lisa
Suzanne :0 <---love it!

addictions are! Thanks for playing along girls and BTW Your blogs ARE fabulous!!

I love mice!

House Mouse is rapidly becoming my favorite line of stamps. I recieved this image in a image swap. I think I might have to buy it! or else I'll have to keep this card for myself! heeheehee

Thank you for looking.
Patti

Sew Glad we're friends!

I "lifted" the idea for this card from Papercrafts designer, Kim Kesti. In the August/September 08 edition Papercrafts magazine. Kim created her project for a Memories Journaling Clipboard. I used one of my favorite images, "Fashionistabella" to create a friendship card. I love how the black and yellow compliment each other! Thanks Kim for the great idea!

I've been "photo" tagged!

My pajama clad friend in Las Vegas Baby, pjpants has "tagged" me. Please come play along with this bloggers game. You are to go to where you store your pictures on your computer - go to the 6th folder and select the 6th picture. Post the picture on your blog along with a description of it then tag 6 other blogging friends and challenge them to do the same. Be sure to come back and post to this thread that your picture is posted after you have posted it to your blog! Have fun!! and thanks for playing along : )

This picture comes from my 6th folder which is my genealogy folder. This is a picture of my maternal great, great grandfather. If you look closely you will the the thumb on his left hand is missing. He lost that thumb in the Civil War. He was 16 years old - the official government records, witnessed by two others, states that while he was cleaning his gun one of his buddies came up behind him and scared him causing him to discharge his weapon and in the process blowing off his thumb. oh! grandpa! : (

Thanks for playing, I'm off to tag:

Black and White

This has been one of the coldest winters I've experienced since moving to Wisconsin. We have had a great deal of snow (which I LOVE!) but it has been too cold to go snowmobiling! (boo : ( hoo!) I decided to "warm up" my blog with some color! and this week I have created some cards that will have you reaching for your sun glasses!

I was inspired by some terrific card ideas in the August/September issue of Papercrafts magazine. The designers created cards using simple black and white paper and then adding some bright colors using markers. Recently, after taking a VIP, Jennifer, to the airport (wink, Jenny) I stopped in to an Archivers store. Getting to go to Archivers really helped to numb the pain of saying goodbye to my sweet niece. It is a treat I rarely get to have - as the closest Archivers is almost 3 hours away from me. I was thrilled to find 5 different black and white papers by "Doodlebug Design, Inc." Plus a HORRIBLY! expensive sheet of black and white butterfly paper from the "Rusty Pickle" Pop Star Collection.

I finally had some time to play with the papers this week and -> as suspected <- I had a blast! and I think the outcome is just sweet!

Thank you for looking! and Stay warm!!

January 2009

I was introduced to this calendar idea this fall. It is about 4.75 x 5.5" mini page that sits in a CD case that has been converted into an "easel" I created this page using an image from the "What's so funny" set from Peachy Keen Stamps. The snowflakes are from "Little Felt Flurries" by SU and I wish I could say where the mini thermometer was from but it is just one of those embies I've had waiting for that "perfect" scrapbook page. I like how it looks even though if you look close you'll see the temperature doesn't reflect a cold day at all!

And cold it is! here in northwestern Wisconsin we are enjoying a bright sunny blue sky day but the temperature is only 10* and we are under a "Winter Storm Watch" until tomorrow afternoon! They are calling for 6 more inches to fall in the next 24 hours!! and I say "Yeah God"!! I love the white stuff.

Happy New Year Friends!!

Oldies but goodies : )

Here are a couple of pictures of cards I made last year. Most of my papercraft friends have probably seen them as I posted them to my Papercrafts gallery last year but I wanted to share these with some new friends and posting on the blog is just easier : )

So! here again is my sassy little friend, "Ginger Bite", from Peach Keen Stamps.

The first is a 6x6 recipe card I created for a swap and the second one is a standard 4.5 x 5.5" card is just an adaptation of the recipe card for fun!

...count Blessings not Calories this time of year!

Here are a few special holiday cards I created for a few special folks : ) The inside sentiment on this card reads: "Be of good spice be of good cheer - count blessings not calories this time of year! I though it was appropriate for this master baker... or is it Mister Baker? heeheehee

Holiday Cards

This is the time of year when we get to bust out those snowmen and fun holiday images. It isn't like I had a shortage of snowmen stamps but when I saw this new set from Peachy Keen Stamps I just couldn't resist. Here are a few fun cards I've made with my new "Snowmen, Greetings & Globe" stamp set.

Snow (((Hugs)))

This card was created using a slightly different "spotlight technique" . I used the D'Vine Swirl Cuttlebug embossing folder to give the impression of wind blowing and added some pearls to the swirls : ) I love how this card turned out. The scans or pictures never show off the glitter very well but the snowflakes and this guy's hat and scarf have plenty of bling!

Thanks for looking : ) and have a great day!

Oh the weather outside is frightful!

and I'm not kidding about that! LOL we've been experiencing temperatures dipping in the teens brrrr! These snowguys from Peachy Keen Stamps don't seem to mind the cold!

Here are two very different ways to use the same stamp. Let me know if you need any help creating these.

Have a great day!! (((Hugs)))

I've been tagged!

I guess I'm neither interesting or weird because it has been almost impossible for me to come up with anything "interesting" to say LOL! but here goes this is as weird and as interesting as I get : )
1. I have aided in the capture and arrest to two bank robbers (in two different hold ups).
2. I can't stand taking a shower until I brush my teeth.
3. I can make the call of a Common Loon, an Owl and an Orangutan so convincing that I can get the creature to "answer" me when I do it outside : ) ....ok, I've never really made the Orangutan call outside in the jungle or even in a zoo but all my friends and family do believe it is a real Orangutan when they hear me make the call. Loons and owls will answer me when I make their call : ) ... it's a gift heeheehee
4. I can tie a cherry stem in a knot with my tounge (completely without the use of my hands). I do have a "how-to" video for sale if anyone is interested.
OK, I guess I'm on a roll because this is getting sort of wierd! LOL
5. I have won awards for both my photography and my cardmaking. blush
6. My Mom ALWAYS liked ME best - no matter what my kid brother, thinks.
7. I have more "virtual" friends than I do "real" friends LOL eeek!!!

Ok, I'm off to tag:

Suzanne because she started this! : )
Susan
Lauri
Lisa
Katie
Teri

I hope some of my "new" freinds will play along and meet some of my "old" friends and visit their blog too.

Have a great day! Patti

I've been busy!

Here are a couple more fun snow guys I hope enjoy.

Patti

My favorite

card for Sue's Challenge is this one. I used a "Spotlight" technique. The Rubber stamp is by Northwoods Rubber Stamps.

I hope you are enjoying my cards : )

Patti

The "Challenge" this week

hosted by "WeedsGalore" Sue, was for a traditional holiday card in all blues and white with either a snowman or a penguin on it - and naturally! some "bling" <---- translation, Dad, something sparkly : )

Being that the Challenge Hostess lives in Tampa Florida I figure she is longing for some winter white stuff! Sue is a fantastic papercrafter, here are a few cards I made for the challenge.

By the way the participants names go in a "hat" and the winner is drawn. This week
ScrappyYankee" my former Secret Sister in Bronx, NY won!! go Mickey!!

Thanks for looking : ) Patti

Weekly Challenge

At the Papercrafts website a few of my friends play weekly challenges. Here is a tri-fold card I created for the weekly challenge last week hosted by Heather. She gave us a link to create this tri-fold card and I just loved it! here is my version. I used a fun little stamp by Penny Black.

I created a few cards for some friends

They own a great scrapbooking store: Organized Chaos. I used their supplies to create these cards and hopefully when they display the cards it will help their customer realize they NEED! these stamps! LOL It worked for me I bought almost all of them myself hee hee hee

Thanks for looking!

You are like a snowflake...

one of a kind!

Gift Tags

Here is a sweet little gift tag I created using some of my all time favorite papercrafting tools and products.

The snowflake image is by Peachy Keen Stamps. The set comes with two snowflakes and four different faces you can stamp inside the flake. I love it! I created this tag using Marvy Punches. I then I punched out a piece of clear acetate using the same punches. I ran the acetate through my old Sizzix with the Snowflake Cuttlebug embossing folder. I was so excited how it turned out. I tried it with some thin acetate and, though it turned out ok - I really preferred using a thicker acetate as the embossing was deeper and more detailed.

Try it! it is a fun and easy gift tag.

Sigh! I miss you.

This may be how some people feel about winter but not me! I love winter. For me winter ushers in the time of year when I would most enjoy being with people who live far from me. This card is perfect for them. The inside sentiment says why:

Sigh! I miss you. Sigh! I really miss you. Sigh! I really really miss you. Well - that's about the sighs of it.

I created this card for my friend LucyG's humorous card swap. Meet "Madge" from Art Impressions Rubber Stamps. The snowflake stamps are by Touché, the cardstock is from Stampin' Up, the photo corner is from Heidi Swapp and the die cut is from Accent Essentials cut on my Cricut. The inside sentiment is from The Angel Company.

It's November!!

Everyday I look for the coming of the Lord. I hope it will be very soon : ) I can't wait to get to heaven where I can spend eternity with Jesus enjoying all that He has prepared for me. I remember, as a child, that time seemed to crawl like a snail - especially when I was anticipating a holiday. Now days it seems the Wiley Coyote would have trouble keeping up with the hectic pace my day sometimes brings. I'm 51 years old. Does that mean I'm in my "autumn years"? Mmmmm : ) being that autumn is my favorite time of the year I get kind of excited thinking about that. I wonder what this chapter of my life will bring??? I still have a lot to learn but I have learned that I need to completely trust Jesus, love people more (even the crabby ones), resist being fearful, appreciate the little things as well as the big things, laugh more, don't be so afraid to be myself, rest where I am at right now and never give up hope for the needs I pray for. When things don't seem to go right or when they just completely fall apart I stop - close my eyes - and remember that I need to trust Jesus, love people more (especially the crabby ones), resist being fearful, appreciate the little things.............. :) you get the idea.

What is the most important thing you've learned in this season of your life : ) I'd love to hear from you.

Patti
