NBUS Challenge

Darnell from djkardkreations blog is over the top funny, talented and tremendously generous! I have been wanting to post another card that I made this week to her challenge and have just noticed she has upped the prize from FIVE winners to TEN winners! wow!! I mean WOW!! Ten people will win gift certificates for $25.00 say it with me.... WOW!

The reason I wanted to submit this card to Darnell's challenge is that every single thing I used on this card is never been used before SCHTUFF : )

There is not much time left but if you hurry you can still join the fun with your never before used schtuff! : ) and even after the prizes are being spent the real prize is Darnell herself so please make it a point to visit, follow and by all means leave some love to this gem in blogland!

Inside of the card

The design for my card is not unique.  As a matter of a fact I saw a similar card on Pinterest and liked it so much it sent me surfing the web to find the embossing folder!  What I ended up finding was that it is not a folder with three flowers it is a folder with one flower! I purchased it on e-Bay.  One would think with all that effort I would have made a card with it the day I got it but... nope! that was months and months ago.  In honor of NBUS I pulled this little treasure out of the stash and with some experimentation I finally figured out how to create multiple impressions of the one flower.

This is the back of my ef so that you can see the flower image. The folder measures 2" x 2 3/4"

My shim was created from 4 pieces of flimsy cs each cut to the same size and taped to my ef with Washi Tape

I created a shim small enough to fit over the flower but not so big that is comes near the folder edges.  The idea is that when you roll the ef and your cs to emboss through your machine the thickest part of the thing is going to get the most pressure.  This means only my flower is embossed because the shim is thick and hits first so that the edges of the ef itself does not emboss or smush down the previous flower you embossed leaving nice crisp impressions.

When you flip the ef over you can easily line up your images each time you run them through the machine.

I would not be a bit surprised if everyone in blogland has already mastered this embossing technique but I had never before tried it! : )

While doing the e-Bay thing I purchased a CTMH stamp set D1476 Card Chatter- Sympathy.... Oh wait! will this count as NBUS Darnell? I have used this set before! I used a friends but liked it so much that I bought it myself! so I have never used THIS set I used another one of these sets? (See I figure if I can get her confused she'll agree to anything) LOL I have never before used the stamp set that created the sentiment in this set! How's that for dancing? LOL And finally the cutie patootie blue gingham brads are from my stash and quite possibly one of the oldest embies I ever bought.  You can see why I never used them they are so stinking cute!

Thanks a bunch, Darnell, for the chance to win your generous prize!!

I guess that is more than enough SCHTUFF to bore you with today : )  Have a wonderful Friday!! Can you believe it? only one more week to the 4th of July! this summer is flying by!

Make It Monday - Vellum Overlay

This is my 80th card!! I can hardly believe it myself! I challenged myself in April to create 100 cards in 100 days! I only have 20 days left before the drawing for my BLOG CANDY and only 20 more cards to create.  If you would like a chance to win my candy simply comment on this post : ) Easy Peasy! See my original post with all the deets HERE.

I thought this challenge was going to get the best of me at first but with perseverance! I finally got a "post worthy" card to share! LOL but before I share my card today please join me in welcoming my TWO newest followers!!    Why, you might ask, is Bev from Happy Dance blog so sweet!? well she is from Wisconsin! that's why : ) or at least that is part of it *wink* and she is a talented paper crafter too.  Sherrie from A Little Bit of Everything Me blog has a bright bold style.  I love the sentiment from one of her cards in THIS POST - it says "you will never find a rainbow looking down".  So true! Thanks so much for following girls! I hope you will visit often : )

I had a nice surprise on Tuesday when my good friend, Theresa, came with her hubby to visit us.  Theresa and I spend a wonderful afternoon in my craft room while the boys swapped fish stories! We decided to try Danielle Flander's "Make It Monday challenge" together.  When I saw Danielle's  video I thought to myself, "this will be easy"! well, it didn't actually turn out that way for me LOL  I did not take pictures of my failures so you will never know the trouble I was (or had) even though there was a witness this time - because what happens in my craft room STAYS in my craft room - right T? heehee

We turned to the Mojo Monday blog for some design inspiration for our cards and found this neat sketch and decided to base our MIM card on it.

Theresa and I traded some supplies and I got the beautiful! "Dotty for You" Designer Paper Collection form Close to My Heart.  I've been creating cards with it ever since! : ) LOVE this paper!! (She just got some boring tape.)

Inside of the card

Please consider joining the MIM challenge! There is a prize : ) not to mention some amazingly beautiful creations from our friends in blogland that you will not want to miss! I hope Theresa will post her card soon.  It is as cute as a button!

Have a great day, friends and thank you so much for stopping by. : )

Papertrey June Blog Hop Challenge

Inside sentiment reads: "is having a friend by your side"

I'm a bit tardy for the hop but I didn't want to miss this fun event sponsored each month by Papertrey Ink.  Our challenge this month is based on this photo:

There were three wonderful sketch options but I selected this one:

I created a second card using the same sketch but added a few more details : ) I simply LOVE the "Movers & Shakers Sentiments" stamp set by PTI especially when used with the zipper die.  I guess the kid in me still loves surprises and it makes me smile knowing the recipient will have fun pulling back the zipper to reveal the rest of the sentiment.

Under the zipper it reads: "sending you a little something special!"

That is it for me for today but before I go I would like to introduce my newest follower, Lynne, from Ruby-Dooby-Doo Crafts blog.  Lynne has a FUN and playful style that I really love!! She follows all the way from northern Ireland and has THE cutest dog!! Please do pop over and see her wonderful cards and when you do be sure to leave some love!

There is still time to join the hop at Papertrey Ink. I will be spending the remainder of the afternoon hopping from blog to blog seeing the wonderful talents and soaking up all the sweetness this challenge inspires in blogland.

Have a wonderful day!!

Just a Number and Washi Tape

Hello friends : ) Before I begin my lengthy post I would like to welcome my newest follower and neighbor! Barbara Campbell owner of "My Creative Room" blog ... ok.... she lives almost 400 miles away but at least she we are in the same state!! LOL Please blurf over and enjoy some good Wisconsin creativity!! : )

I mentioned last week that I have borrowed the Close To My Heart, "Just A Number" (D1514) stamp set from my friend, Theresa, and I wanted to make some birthday cards with it.  I love this stamp set.  It is funny without being hurtful and I can think of so many people who I could send these sassy cards to that I made some duplicates!

I also wanted to dip into my growing stash of Washi Tape.  I keep buying it and not using it but find I still want more LOL so I challenged myself to either start using it or stop buying it! I am pleased with how these cards turned out and feel I have proven to myself that I simply DO need more Washi Tape! heehee

I love creating card series of similar colors or themes to use as gifts.  I might just have to do another round of these cards for a gift for a friend of mine

Aren't these funny? I hope you have enjoyed them as much as I have.  Thank you again, T for letting me borrow your stamp set. : )

These funny cards have helped me get back on track in my goal to create 100 but I still have 22 cards left to make with only 23 days left to make them! woohoo this has been a fun challenge and I can not tell you how much I love and appreciate each and every comment that has been left! I really mean that! I wish I could give my BLOG CANDY gift to every commenter and follower!!

If you are new to my blog and don't know about it please see THIS POST for all the details and how you can have a chance to win my CANDY simply by commenting on this post.

MIM Chalk, Stamps and an Impression Plate

Hello friends! Happy Saturday to you ; )  Here is a card I created for the Papertrey Ink - Make It Monday challenge : ) You can see Melissa Phillips great video HERE.  Melissa has challenged us to us to emboss on card stock then chalk over the texture that is on the cs and finally stamp over that.  It is easy and I quite like the results!

I do not have a PTI embossing plate so I embossed my cs using the PTI Hearts Cover Plate.  I chalked with some "Basic Brights" chalk by Pebbles, Inc. and then stamped my flower images and sentiment  from PTI's Doodlie-Do stamp set.

Next I cut and attached a cool drink of summer sunshine from an old old Sizzlits die called Lemonade which I also chalked : )

I tried this technique three times - once using browns and a pumpkin die cut but that one just looks dirty LOL so here are two similar yet different cards for this challenge : ) There is still time to enter the PTI Make It Monday challenge : ) be sure to check out the sensational work of others who joined in this challenge there are a LOT of amazing takes on this challenge you are sure to enjoy.

These two cards bring my total cards completed to 71 : ) with only 25 days left in my challenge to create 100 cards in 100 days.  I'm offering some yummy BLOG CANDY! For a chance to win simply leave a comment on this post.  See all the deets mark my HERE.

Have a wonderful day!

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

And fun it is! with plenty of bling (kind of like frosting on the cake!). This card is tall and skinny. It measures 3.5 x 5.5" so that it fits in an A2 envie but with plenty of room for the circle to hang off the side of the card.  I really like this size card - introduced in January of this year by the talented gals at Mojo Monday : )

I used scraps of paper for the bottom section and an old TAC image.  Just a fun card for a special girl who loves purple and shoes and bling!  BIG (((Hugs))) Britany I miss you already!

I have been making cards! yesterday I found some unexpected time in my craft room.  An hour turned into an afternoon and before I knew it I had created NINE! cards woo hoo!!  I had been feeling nervous about getting behind schedule on my goal but I'm feeling much better now.  I will be sharing all the cards over the next couple of days.

I hope you've been getting some "you" time in your craft room as well.

Thank you for all your wonderful comments and for cheering me on in my goal to create 100 cards in 100 days.  This card marks my 69th card.  Just by leaving a comment on this post you are automatically entered in my drawing for my BLOG CANDY!! see all the details HERE : )

Have a great day!!

Blog Candy!!

I am getting behind! this is my 68th card.  I have 32 cards left to go with only 27 days to complete them!! I am talking about my personal challenge to create 100 cards in 100 days.  It has not been hard up til now but I failed to consider how crazy busy summer gets!  I hope you will help me see my way to the end of this challenge : ) there is BLOG CANDY up for grabs - by simply commenting on this post you will automatically be entered in the drawing for a chance to win my candy.  See all the details HERE

Welcome welcome to my two new followers!!

Alanna of Alanna's Spot in the World blog.  She says her blog is the place where "the creative outlet from my right brain meets up with the analytical nature of my left brain".  : ) She is a busy wife, mom and CPA not to mention a talented paper crafter!.  Also please join me in welcoming Diane of 1CardCreator blog.  She is a talented paper crafter with a bold and bright style.  A little birdie told me she also likes to cook!!.  Please blurf on over and leave some love on these two great blogs!

This card was created for my hubby for Father's Day.  He is a remarkable father and friend.  If I could I would give him a golf cart exactly like this! We used to have one and I know he regrets having given it up!

I selected some SU solid cs and some striped paper that is so old it didn't even have a company name on it! LOL The golf ball was created by embossing the PTI Hexagon cover plate die and then cutting the circle with a Nestibilities die. (Please tell the truth did you get it that this was supposed to be a golf ball?? My husband did! I was amazed!! he actually said

"wow this looks just like a golf ball - how did you do that?!

: ) (buttons busting) He likes my cards but sometimes he really takes note. : )  Anyway the golf cart stamp set and coordinating die was also a big hit : ) success! heehee

I best get back in the craft room and get some cards made.  I have borrowed a neat stamp set from a friend of mine so my next series of cards are going to be birthday cards using CTMH "Just a Number" stamp set.  The sentiments are a hoot! Stay tuned : )

Gone Fishing

Hello friends : )  I hope you are enjoying your Friday.  I am posting this card in honor of my "poor hubby" who is hosting a Fishing Garage Sale today and tomorrow.  He would most definitely rather be fishing than selling fishing tackle to men on their way to the lake but the garage is bulging so he decided it was time.

My wonderful husband and I love fishing together - he is the best friend I have ever had and the best person I have ever known!

Fishing lures for him is like papercraft supplies for me.... one difference you won't see me selling my stash at a garage sale! LOL

I actually made this card because I'm "teaching" a little card class to some very special friends this weekend.  I was to create 3 - 4 different card designs and make up kits. We will actually just put them together at our gathering.  The card makers are beginners so I needed simple designs : )

The fishing pole is a die cut from my old pal -  Quic Kutz.  Quick Kutz was the first die cutting tool I ever owned.  I earned it by working for a friend of mine at her scrapbooking store while she attended CHA.  I loved playing store for her while she was gone and earned hundreds of dollars in new product for my effort.  Some years after that I found this fishing pole die and added it to my collection but I had never used it.  I'm guessing I bought it 10 years ago! shameful! just shameful!!

HOWEVER! the good news is I can enter this card in Darnell's contest. You know Darnell right?? oh ladies! you need to meet this dear woman who will amuse and sometimes shock you! she if full of side splitting humor as well as being kind and sweet.

Check out her blog contest and be sure to follow her because you will not want to  miss a single post from this witty and playful word artist (oh, and her cards are great too).

While hubby is spending the day swapping "fish stories" my peeps and I are heading tot he BIG city for shopping and eating and laughing and just plain fun!!

I'm offering some candy of my own! simply comment on this post for a chance to win my BLOG CANDY! See THIS POST for all the details.

I hope you enjoy your day!!

More Thanks

BLOG CANDY!! I am offering up some delicious candy and all you need to do to win is post a comment on today's post!! Easy Peasy : ) See THIS POST for all the details.

My goal  to create 100 cards in 100 days is going well.  Today's card is my 65th.  I only have 37 days left to create THIRTY FIVE more cards : ) I have been really busy being "birthdayed" and well... summer is just busy! I'm not worried one bit but I am a little behind visiting my friends in blogland.  Please be patient with me.  I'm hoping for some time to visit this week! : )

Here is another thank you card I created using my PTI Button Boutique stamp set and coordinating die set.  I just love this set!! I have been enjoying the versatility of it.  You should see all the "buttons" I'm been making LOL!

If I had more time I would re-take these pictures.  I am not exactly sure what the problem is but these pictures are NOT doing this lovely paper justice.  The paper colors are a soft coral and minty green on a cream background - and the hand stamped buttons match the paper perfectly! LOL

But this is my best chance for getting this card posted so I hope the colors look better on YOUR monitor!.  Tomorrow (actually today as it is after midnight as I write this) I will be driving my BFF to the airport to pick up her granddaughter!! We are so excited for this visit. Our closest airport is a three hour drive each way! so I want to get plenty of sleep tonight : )

Have a wonderful Tuesday friends : )

So Many Thanks!

I just want to thank you all so much for your Happy birthday wishes!! I really appreciated each and every one! : ) Those who know me best know I love my birthday!! really love it! I am blessed with a husband and friends who put up with my goofiness about my birthday and bend over backwards to make my day perfect! this year was no exception.  You know what this means... I have thank you cards to make!!

I created these buttons by cutting two each from white card stock and then just stamping them.  This is definitely a more postal friendly variation! : )

Here are a few that I've finished so far.  I'm slightly delayed because as my birthday WEEK continues I've been busy with friends and family continuing my celebration! LOL This weekend I have a VIP visitor keeping me busy but I'm sneaking away to post these cards.  There will be more later in the coming week : )

This series of cards were created using the PTI Button Boutique stamp set and coordinating dies.  I have posted cards from this set previously but those were more of a Vintage feel.  I wanted to try this set with some bright cheery fabric from my stash and I really like how they turned out.

I started with lots of white! and did some embossing for a clean fresh look.  I cut thin strips of my fabric and gathered them to make a ribbon like trim.  As I was out in blogland I learned about a challenge at Sentimental Sundays blog for a challenge to use fabric on your card.  A perfect fit for these cards so I will be entering that challenge for the first time. : ) Be sure to hop over and check out what others have done with this challenge : )

My first card design is from the challenge blog at Mojo Monday! I LOVE the Mojo Monday challenge blog and all the wonderful inspiration I can glean there.  Please check it out you re sure to be inspired as well. : )

These cards bring my total to 64 cards created in my personal goal to make 100 cards by July 16th! : ) I am offering BLOG CANDY!.  All you need do to have a chance to win is comment on this post : ) See all the details HERE.

Well I best get back to my company.  I hope you are having a wonderful  weekend and are having the opportunity to get inky!! : )

We are celebrating today!

I just love this color combo!: ) Here are some cards I made this week using the Stampin Up "Mosiac Madness" stamp set and hand punch duo.

inside reads... "Birthday!"

As you know I love the new technique I just learned, debossing, so I did some of that with this combo as well as some regular embossing too.

I really love using sets like this because without a whole lot of time or space you can whip up great cards with only a few different supplies.  I guess that really sums up why I like card making more than scrapbooking too.

I totally CASED this card from my friends.  Theresa made it for Diane LOL and I love it!!

These same two friends and I got together in early March to play with paper.  I brought this set and we drew inspiration from Pinterest and one another to make this next batch of  pretty cards.

inside reads... "Coming Your Way"

Here is one that is not White and minty green : ) and I love this color combo too!!

inside reads... that God will keep you in His care.

Thanks a bunch for looking : ) Today is my birthday!  I will be spending the day doing what I love! which is fishing with my hubbers.  It is a warm sunny - blue sky day in northwestern Wisconsin and we all cherish these days before the HOT, HUMID, BUGGY, icky weather hits LOL. After spending the day on the lake we will be going to meet a bunch of friends at one of my favorite resturaunts for some delicious food and wonderful fellowship!! : )

I hope you enjoy whatever you are doing today too!
