Hey Chickie! Shaker

I created this card for my 8 year old Pen Pal who lives in South Carolina.  I only got to meet her one time two summers ago and this adorable little friend still diligently sends me letters and her art work. She is quick to remind me if I delay in returning her letters LOL I know it is hard to wait for snail mail when you are eight!  She is going to like this card. : )

I have not gotten to play with a lot of challenges lately so I am kind of excited to get to enter this card in THREE! : ) I hope you will have some time to visit the link of each challenge and enjoy the eye candy in each gallery!  Hey Chickie! come to think of it maybe you will even find the time to join some or all of these challenges too : ) I hope you do.

Simple Gift card set by Serendipity Stamps

Before you could sing:

It's raining, it's pouring - the old man is snoring!

I created this bright spunky gift set for a dear woman who is moving away and who will be missed by many many people.  She was one of the very first people who welcomed us when we moved here nearly 3 years ago.  Ilene was a checker in our local grocery store.  She was a very hard worker and always had a smile!!

I knew she would have lots of people to write to from her new home so I made this little collection of one-layer cards.

Each of the five cards started with polka dots from a stencil sponged over the negative of a circle I cut from vellum.

Once the background was done I selected a series of simple little images from among my collection of great images by Serendipity Stamps.

Finally I selected some sentiments being careful to choose a variety of different ones and stamped them in black on each card face.

Easy Peasy and Ilene was thrilled!! I hope one day one of these little cards will show up in MY mailbox! as I would love to hear how she is adjusting to her new life and her new home : )

I know lots of people are having a "heat wave" right now but here in the Black Hills we are under cold and rainy skies!! brrrrr  I guess it could be worse.... it could be SNOW!  : )  ewww! bite my tongue!

That is all for me today.  I hope whatever you are doing you are getting inky!! : )

Serendipity Stamps September Blog Hop #1

Its time again for Serendipity Stamp's first Blog Hop of the month.  As a design team member I get to showcase some of the amazing product available at the Serendipity Stamps store.

When you hop with us you increase your chances of winning the $20.00 gift certificate to the Serendipity Stamps Store that one randomly selected commenter will win!!   You may leave your comments through Sunday.  Mary will announce the name of the winner on the SS blog on Monday September 11th.

Summer is flying by so what a better way to see it go than with some kites! I cut my top panel using the "Kites Reverse Die".  The reverse dies are nifty because they cut out some detail leaving open space but they also leave a lot of cut detail for fine definition. I layered a piece of patterned paper behind the openings.  I cut my Dream die from the same paper, cut two more Dream die cuts from white cardstock before gluing the patterned paper on to it for both strength and dimension and attached it to my card front using foam tape.

My next card features a cool Tree Frame stamp.  I love this image because it makes a sweet frame for a funny sentiment like this or can be used to create a scene.  You could string a banner between the trees too! Lots of possibilities : )

Ok enough from me - here is a list of the Serendipity Stamps Design Team with links to their blogs.  I hope that you will visit each blog and leave them some love.  We love your comments!

Friends are Wonderful!!

Hello to all my wonderful friends!! : )

Do you notice anything different about me? .... nope I didn't get a new haircut... ok, yes, well... I have put on a few pounds! : ( LOL  but that isn't it... Give up?

My photo "studio" has gotten a face lift! : )  I have been agonizing lately over the poor quality of my images! I have wonderful equipment and fantastic lighting but nothing has helped me capture the "real life" way my cards look.  I love to create cards using lots of white space which I've come to HATE to photograph!  At a recent "stamping play day" with my friend Jill Foster of Penny Black stamps I was lamenting about my problem.  Jill offered to lend me SEVEN brightly painted wooden panels that her Dad had made for her.  She told me she has the same problem with photographing white cards on a white backdrop and suggested the colored backdrop might help.

Well as you can see it works like a charm!!  And get this... when I tried to return the panels to her she would not take them!! that's right - she has gifted them to me and wont take a cent :  )

Jill is one of the many blessings I've received from this wonderful community we belong to.  She "found" me from one of my blog posts and invited me to be a part of the Penny Black family and she invited me to her home and now calls me friend. My cup runneth over!

If you admire clean and simple I recommend adding the Penny Black Simplicity blog to your blogroll where the uber talented design team will inspire you! If you struggle to photograph your CAS cards add a little color to your background and watch your images come to life : )

Thank you so much for stopping by.
