Friends are Wonderful!!

Hello to all my wonderful friends!! : )

Do you notice anything different about me? .... nope I didn't get a new haircut... ok, yes, well... I have put on a few pounds! : ( LOL  but that isn't it... Give up?

My photo "studio" has gotten a face lift! : )  I have been agonizing lately over the poor quality of my images! I have wonderful equipment and fantastic lighting but nothing has helped me capture the "real life" way my cards look.  I love to create cards using lots of white space which I've come to HATE to photograph!  At a recent "stamping play day" with my friend Jill Foster of Penny Black stamps I was lamenting about my problem.  Jill offered to lend me SEVEN brightly painted wooden panels that her Dad had made for her.  She told me she has the same problem with photographing white cards on a white backdrop and suggested the colored backdrop might help.

Well as you can see it works like a charm!!  And get this... when I tried to return the panels to her she would not take them!! that's right - she has gifted them to me and wont take a cent :  )

Jill is one of the many blessings I've received from this wonderful community we belong to.  She "found" me from one of my blog posts and invited me to be a part of the Penny Black family and she invited me to her home and now calls me friend. My cup runneth over!

If you admire clean and simple I recommend adding the Penny Black Simplicity blog to your blogroll where the uber talented design team will inspire you! If you struggle to photograph your CAS cards add a little color to your background and watch your images come to life : )

Thank you so much for stopping by.

So that is the trick...I put away my whole lamps and three sided staging for picture taking because I was getting awful pictures of my cards, they were either pinkish or yellowish or anything but white, drove me crazy! I will definitely give colored backdrops a try! And thank you for all your inspiration! I can see a little faint sponging in outline, I love that look and will give it a try! Nice to see you too!

These backgrounds look great with your cards. I remember use cream card against white cards and the other way round but will give this a go. I just use card, no room in a London flat for panels! I love the soft look of this card x

What a beautiful card and a beautiful and generous friend! I'm so happy you are happier with your photos. :) Your stamping is always top notch! I'm so happy to have "found" you, too. :) Have a lovely day. Hugs!

I love your card. A great design and colors. And, I have been using card stock in various colors to show off my white cards I make. It does make a difference. But that is such a nice designed panel you have to use to show off yours. I love that it has a more finished look with that design on it then my pieces of card stock. But in a pinch card stock would work as well.

How sweet of Jill to do that for you! The panel looks wonderful behind your pretty CAS card! Love the touch of lime green with the pretty blue!

Ooh, that shade of blue is so lovely, Patti. Your card pops against the bright panel and that hint of the inside of your card is fun to see also. Your style is classic and thanks for the pointers on using a brighter background. (I often lay my cards down on a placemat or the carpet but it doesn't photograph as well as yours do standing upright.)

How sweet of Jill to gift you with the lovely panels; you are so deserving of such a gesture! And the results: soooo pretty! Your card is lovely and truly 'pops' against the blue backdrop. I could lament about my frustrations with photos for hours..sighhhh. Oh well, doing the best I can with my iphone (too cheap to buy a camera and wouldn't know what to do with it anyway....). Wonderful post...coming away smiling!

Getting the photo of my card to be an accurate representation of the colors of the card is the bane of my existence! I'm experimenting with backgrounds all time time because I have found that they can affect how the camera records the colors. I'm glad you found a solution and I'm going to try using solid backgrounds to see if it helps me!

THIS card is absolutely beauiful! The simple blooms set off by the soft shading in the corner is a wonderful look!

That blue background really does make your lovely card come alive, Patti. Thanks for the hint. I've tried photo editing but it doesn't always give a true representation. I'll definitely try some colored backgrounds. How sweet of Jill to not only help you with this but to gift you the backdrops.
