Make It Monday - Making a negative into a positive

Good morning friends! I am so happy to be posting two cards today.  I have been enjoying the summer fun in this beautiful area I live in which has kept me from posting to my blog in the past couple of weeks but not necessarily kept me from creating cards in my down time or late at night.  Here are two I made this week in response the Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday challenge.

The UBER talented - Laurie Willison owner of Soapbox Creations blog presented this great challenge in her first ever MIM video : )  You can see her video HERE.  She shows us how to create positively beautiful cards using the negative pieces from cover plate dies in a quick and easy way. Thanks a bunch Laurie for all the inspiration your BEAUTIFUL cards continually bring to me.

I used the "Circles" Cover Plate die by PTI which is really quite detailed - but with Laurie's fantastic tip on how to adhere just the negative pieces this background comes out perfect every time!.  It looks as though I lined each tiny piece up doesn't it!?! Love it!

I didn't want to discard the cover plate which was left over after I removed  it so I created my next card which uses the positive part of the Cover Plate and omited the negatives pieces.

Both of my cards will be included in a little gift collection I am making for my business partner and BFF, Diane's mom.  Diane's mom is so sweet to send her daughter boxes filled with sweet little gifts frequently.  The amazing part is somewhere nestled in with the gifts she sends is always a treat or two for me.  When Diane recently returned from a family vacation for her niece's wedding Mom sent me some really neat decorations for my bathroom and a package of American Crafts polka dot ribbon! Twently four rolls of the sweetest polka dot ribbon in a plethora of colors! Each card I create for her gift will have a bit of the new ribbon she gave to me. : )

That is it for today.  I hope to get some of these cards I've been making posted soon.  I have been holding off showing most of them as they are gifts for one of my sisters.  She reads my blog and I don't want her to see her gift before it is in the mail : )  I am doing a similar series of cards for my step mother for a hostess gift that I will be bringing to her when I visit her and my Dad in a couple of weeks : ) Sooner or later I will post them all but until then I have been enjoying my days and I hope you are enjoying yours too! : )

Please join the fun at Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday you will love seeing all of the beautiful creations made by our fellow addicts in blogland - inspired by Laurie's nifty challenge.

Have a great "hump day" : )

Patti

Marvelous makes, Patti, as always! I hope to get a chance to play ~ what a great idea!! Glad you've been enjoying the summer which I've heard has been "California" weather with cooler temperatures and low humidity, while we've had very hot and humid here. Enjoy!! Hugs, Darnell

I can't decide witch card I like best! The first is SO elegant and the second super trendy!
You have a fortunate sister to receive your cards as gifts:)
Darn it! I keep forgetting to buy that Press and Seal!

Hah! So funny that we used the same products! I, however, could NOT get those little diamonds to stick-even with the press and seal....yours turned out so gorgeous, I'll have to try again!
