Oopsie!

Today is the day we show our boo boos! Everybody's friend, Darnell , of djkardkreations blog is hosting a party! See all the fun right HERE in the Playhouse.

Each year at Christmas time I create several different Christmas card  designs to send to my friends and family. I will usually make about 4 to 6 of each design. In 2014 I made several cards like this one.  I am crazy about the zipper die by Papertrey Ink and the coordinating stamp set.  I love creating a secret message that you get to see only when you open the zipper.  The message under the secret strip is:

 "a Merry Christmas"

My late sister, Sherry's birthday is December 21st so I decided to change up one of the cards to make it a birthday card for her.  The secret message on her identical birthday card read:

"a birthday as special as you are!"

I bet you are guessing what my boo boo was aren't you? LOL  Soon after the cards were sent I got all sorts of calls or e-mails thanking me for my sweet hand crafted cards.  The ones who received the secret message card were the most enthusiastic of all! - I beamed!

When I spoke with Sherry on Christmas day she commented on my cards and asked me why I sent two Christmas cards to her.  During that conversation we laughed until we cried when I realized that someone on my Christmas card list got a card wishing them a happy birthday!.  The sweetest thing of  all? whoever received the wrong message never said a word about  the mistake - they just thanked me.  I never did find out who received the boo boo!!  My sister teased me about it until the day she died.

I just can't wait to see what everyone else reveals about their funniest oopsie!  It is sure to be a fun party.  I hope you will hop over to Darnell's blog to join the hilarity!

Thank you for stopping by : ) have a great day!

Patti

By the way I love your card, I need to use that zipper more or at least figure it out. I use it but never to really open it. God bless you!

Oh my goodness! What fabulous Christmas cards you created and how sweet that 'someone' didn't let on that they received your intended-for-your-sister Birthday card. I'm sorry for your loss; based on what you've shared, your closeness is really apparent. Thank for for the oopsie...makes me smile!

Love this, gave you something to giggle over. I could just imagine doing the same sort of thing. Clever idea too.

Oh, great! That is just like something I would do!! Of course, with that clever zipper die, you couldn't check to see which sentiment was hidden beneath without ruining the card. Oh, bother!! :) What a great memory you have of laughter with your dear sister! TFS.

Oh, what a cherished and fun memory you now have of your sweet sister. I'm sorry for your loss, but it's our memories that we hold dear to our hearts that help us move forward each day. Thanks for your reminder to link up my card. I've actually been away for the past week but got home early this evening so I could still link it up. Have a blessed weekend!

Great zipper card!

Now you know why you'll never find that innovative zipper die in the Playhouse! I KNOW I would be screwing it up right and left, especially if I got interrupted by a Mister or a Hamlette! (Hamlette?)

But if I may be serious for a minute, Patti, I love how that Big Fat Card Boo Boo has become a very special memory of the laughs you shared over it with Sherry! And it shows that you have wonderful taste in friends that none of them teased you about it! Thank you, BTW, for calling me everyone's friend ~ that made me feel all warm and toasty!

Happy April Fool's Day and thank you for playing in my first BFCBB Hop (and advertising it for two weeks!)!! Hugs, Darnell

OMGosh, what a sweet story!!! I love that the person that got the wrong card was sweet and didn't tell you the mistake. A fun memory that you and your sister shared and now just you and the mystery person know about. Isn't it all about the memories?!! And it just doesn't get any better than this story!! Hugs, Brenda

Hahahaha good one!
My friend sent me a birthday card last year instead of a Christmas card, so you're not the only one LOL

Oh what a clever idea for a card. I bet you've never batch-baked them with different sentiments again though!

So sorry for your loss...but what a special memory goes along with this card, that you and your sweet sister could share a laugh together.

Fun story, Patti! I did something along that order--sent my cousin's BD card without signing it! Before hubby got back from the post office I realized what I'd done, but too late--haha!
