Serendipity Stamps in September

That just sounds pretty doesn't it? Serendipity Stamps in September : )  I like that!!

To start off this beautiful month we have a fun challenge for you from Serendipity Stamps:

My take on this fun challenge was to ink up an Aqua piece of card stock using Turquoise ink on top and a Teal ink on the bottom.  I then stamped my pretty snowy scene, embossed it with white embossing powder and cut it with a scallop rectangle die.  Taking solid white cs I cut a second scallop rectangle.  I switched out the middle making a snowy white frame to highlight my brisk and bright little scene.

I cut an A2 size card a tad slim on the long side so that I could let my Joy hang off the edge.  You've heard of "let it all hang out" right? giggles

A sweet and simple card using a detailed image that is BARE!  This technique is perfect for any image - but especially these very detailed ones.

Serendipity Stamp's month long challenge comes with a PRIZE!! Simply create a card using at least one Serendipity Stamp or Die and Link up with us for a chance to win $25.00 in the Serendipity Stamps product of your choosing : )  what could be better?

To sweeten the deal Mary, the owner and sweetheart of SS, offers a "Stamp of the Month" at 50% off!"

There are so many inspiring ways to "Leave it Bare" Check out what the rest of the Design Team has created just for you!

That's it for me today!! : )   I hope you'll consider joining us this month by linking up your bare naked card : ) in the gallery HERE : ) You have until midnight on the 29th to link up US EST we LOVE seeing your work there! : )

Happy Birthday Jeanne Tomshack

Hello crafty friends : )   Please join me in wishing Jeanne owner of Creative Bliss blog a VERY Happy Birthday!!

I first "found" Jeanne in Blogland when I started noticing that she was commenting on many of the same blogs that I was commenting on!  After seeing her sweet face on her Avatar for weeks - maybe months! I finally followed her link to find her blog.  The funny thing was I noticed that she had not actually been posting to her blog for a while.  That really impressed me : ) I was surprised that even though whatever events in her life caused her to be away from posting to her own blog - she was STILL cheering on her Blogland friends.  I immediately began to follow her and am SO happy I did!  Jeanne not only creates wonderful cards she also is a "Color Book" artist : )

Take a look at this beautiful piece she colored.  See her post HERE.

I wish you the happiest of Birthday's friend.  This is NOT the card rushing it's way to you LOL but hopefully you'll like this CYBER card : ) as well as the one you should receive very soon in the mail!!  Have a wonderful day!

I created this card with Jeanne in mind late last night.  I was inspired by her Adult Coloring Book passion as well as the photo inspiration over at the "Just Us Girls" challenge blog.

Isn't this piece remarkable!?!  When I saw it  I was reminded of a piece of clip art that I purchased a few years ago for a project I was doing for my Granddaughter. My card today uses this piece of clip art.

I had a little trouble but in the end I am pleased with the result.  I cut a piece of water color paper and printed the clip art - actually I printed two so that I could experiment with  one.  I let them dry completely and then in very small sections I began to apply some color and water.  As I feared the ink from my printer just bled all over : (  Had I used my husband's fancy printer I don't think I would have had that trouble but it was late and the printer was  unavailable so I had to continue trying to apply color without involving the printer ink.

I ended up just taking my sponge and pouncing my sponge applicator onto the paper - into the places I wanted them trying to loosely follow the inspiration photo.  I really liked it.  When I could I sponged in a circular motion but mostly I applied the color by just pouncing the sponge up and down.  Next I cut the piece from my rectangle stitched die and added my sentiment.  I planned to sponge the background of my card face this morning so I shut off my light and headed to bed.  As I turned back to look at it in the dark I just hated! that I couldn't add water!.  So at 1:00 am I turned the light back on - said out loud to myself...

"You're gonna ruin it!"

..... grabbed some water and a paint brush : ) and.....

I didn't ruin it after all!! The only part I don't like is around the pink - I didn't get close enough to the image and so I feel it looks too "Defined" of a water color blob - but for 1:00 am it's not too bad : )  LOL  When I got up this morning I sponged some color on to another panel trying to follow the colors on my top panel.  I glued that to a card base and finally glued my top panel.  Oh! and I put a piece of fun foam under the entire portion of the top panel. : )

There is still time to join JUGS for challenge #358!!

And please don't forget to stop in Friday when I will have another featured post on Penny Black and YOU will have another chance at the $25.00 in Penny Black product that I am giving away!  See all the details HERE.

Thank you SO much for stopping by!!  Have a wonderful day!

TINY and Teeny Tiny

Hello Crafty Friends!!

Each month Birgit of Crafting While I Wait blog and Marcia of Marcia's Stampin' Pad blog challenge one another to a private challenge.  Their challenge is to create projects using specific products that they select - they each use the same products and then post to their blogs for all of us to enjoy.  I look forward to their monthly challenges because of the wonderful  inspiration I get from seeing how many ways identical products can be used.  It has been the highlight of my month for quite some time : )

Last month they opened up the challenge to any of us who wanted to join and I jumped at the chance!! I was only a little disappointed when I learned the challenge for this month was to create projects using Papertrey Ink's "Tiny Town" Series.  I don't own a single Tiny Town : ( so I figured I would have to wait for the September challenge to join in.  BUT! as these gals are not only talented - they are SWEET! they allowed me to participate using my 3D products from Papertrey Ink's - "Petite Places" series instead.  AND Marcia popped a Tiny Town "Sweet Shoppe" in the mail for me so I got to fall in love with the Tiny Town Series and subsequently will be needing to go get a JOB! to support my ever expanding Wish List! giggles!

Ok, so I'm gonna STOP "talking! now LOL (Yeah right huh?) and bring on the TINY and the Teeny Tiny for your enjoyment.  I will list the supplies after each project for easy reference.

A Burst of Sunshine!

Happy Friday friends : )

I wanted to be sure to get a post up today because it is Friday and I know you are looking for my Penny Black "Fun Friday" post.  As it turns out I am not scheduled at Penny Black this week but you can find me here next Friday on September 2nd when both PB and I will be featuring my three "Beautiful in Blue" cards AND right here you will have another chance to win $25.00 in your choice of Penny Black products! If you missed my announcement and wanna know what I'm referring to please check out THIS POST.

I hope the weather is a bit nicer in your part of Blogland than it is in mine today.  It is 45* and cloudy with the threat of thunder storms and a high of only 65*.  It feels like fall! but I'm not finished with summer! : )

So sorry about the quality of my photograph I simply could not get the lighting right - must be the gloom outside!  This is a Thank you card I made for my sister, Susan of A Splash of Color blog, for my June birthday gift.  I made and sent it back in June but have not had the chance to post it until today and I NEED some sunshine in my life right now : ) Maybe it'll inspire these clouds to dissipate : )

The gift she sent was a package of Ken Oliver Crafts COLOR BURST powders.  If you have not seen this beautiful product check out Ken Oliver's blog HERE where he shares some amazing techniques and inspiration!

I started with water color paper and positioned my sunshine stencil over the top.  Next I spritzed my paper/stencil with water and then "poofed" some of the color burst powder over the top.  Yes! poofed! It is the coolest thing! and fun and unpredictable because, like "splatters", you can't really know exactly where that paint will land.  The powder is super fine!! so beware and be sure to do your poofing in a large box or else you'll find microfine little dots of powder on everything!  : ) Trust me.... I know!

I have been so busy this summer it is crazy and therefore summer is going by crazy fast! : ) I love it all!! since moving to the Black Hills we have been blessed to have so many friends and family visiting it has been  like a revolving door!!  This past week we had dear friends from Minnesota visit.

Visitors have kept me away from papercrafting.  Then this week I have been covered up (almost literally) with beautiful fabric as I sew scarves for our neckStyles™ business.  Christmas shopping is always a busy and lucrative time for us in our business so I have been preparing for a new release and sale in September. Sewing has kept me away from papercrafting! My husband and I have purchased Recumbent Tricycles this year so Biking has kept me away from papercrafting!!

Here are some pictures of my new bike and our friend's visit last week.  I'm sorry it is so long I could't figure out how to make a grid like Darnell does : ) but it's just pictures not long drawn out stories explaining each picture like your Mother-in-law does!  giggles

In all the years we've been visiting  Prairie Dog town's in SD we have never ever seen Prairie Dogs allow you to get so close! this little sweetie had this Prairie Dog literally eating out of her hand!

On this fun note I will close for today.  I need to tuck away my sewing supplies and vacuum to inspect for pins that might have gotten away from me and to get rid of all the colorful fibers floating around : ) Once that is complete I get to decide what I'm going to work on because tomorrow I'm finally going to get back to papercrafting when I get to go to a FUN full day of playing with paper with three crafty friends!!

Thank you so much for stopping by.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

TAG - you're it! : )

It is time for another great challenge at Seize the Birthday!

Our "Toppings" option this time is...

Tags - Little or BIG!

This birthday party has a Surprise Guest!! - the sweet  Monika Reeck of "Creative with Monika blog" joins us at  Seize the Birthday for the next two months.  Please join me in a great big WELCOME!!

My card today was a lot of fun to create!  I started out by cutting a tag from Pretty Pink Posh - that I purchased from Serendipity Stamps (a little promo here : ) did you know Serendipity Stamps now offers PPP product!? check it out HERE) Next I inked some Polka dots on the right side only of the tag using a Penny Black stencil. I stamped the legs of my Flamingo as well as the sentiment directly on to the tag.  Next I cut some sweet Garland from water color paper and colored them with my Ziggys.  Finally I cut and stamped the bird. I glued all the the elements to the card face - not popping up anything except the bird's wing. I wanted to doll up the inside so I applied the same polka dotted stencil to the lower section of the inside and lastly I laid down a strip of thin black Washi tape : )

TAG - you're it!! now it is your turn to create a card using a Tag - Little or BIG!

If you are not a "Toppings"  person don't forget at Seize The Birthday - Anything Always Goes!!

Just remember to keep it a Birthday Theme!

So there is no excuse! : ) Please join us at Seize The Birthday we LOVE seeing your wonderful cards in our gallery!

I will be taking tomorrow off from my "Fun Fridays with Patti Kehl" at the Penny Black blog but you can watch for my next featured post at PB on September 2nd when I will have three really "Beautiful in Blue" cards to share and another chance to win my BLOG CANDY!  If you have not heard about my give away yet see THIS POST for all the details of how YOU can win : )

Special Announcement and Blog Candy!!

Imagine my excitement when this beautiful banner showed up in my e-mail in box with an invitation to be featured on the Penny Black Blog for a Seven Week series called "Fun Fridays with Patti Kehl".

What I have been busting to share! but was not at liberty to breathe a word of, is that some months ago I was honored to create cards for Penny Black's marketing department to be used at a trade show they attended in July.  The show, for retailers only, introduced PB's two newest collections "Autumn Wishes" and Magic of the Season".  These two collections have just been released to the public this week.  You can see the entire release in the Penny Black On-line Store HERE.

Using only prototypes of the new upcoming Fall and Winter release I created almost two dozen cards. For seven (non-consecutive) Fridays I will be featured on the Penny Black blog as they showcase the cards I created for them.

I'm not sure the best way to write this up because I know it could be a long post so just in case you get weary reading all of this please feel free to ignore my babbling and scroll down to the BLOG CANDY part so that you don't miss the chance to WIN! the prize I'm giving away! : )

This is one of my favorite cards I made for Penny Black. I love how it turned out.  I stamped the image from "Autumn Splendor #30-372" on water color paper and colored just the pumpkins with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens.  After cutting the word "Thankful "from the Words of Gratitude # 51-071 Creative Dies trio from  water color paper I Zig colored it to match my pumpkins and attached it to my card.  At the bottom edge of the water color panel I pierced some holes just for the fun of it!  I attached this top panel to an off white card base and slipped in a little strip of polka dot paper from my stash at the bottom.  Finally I added a partial sentiment from the Treasured Sentiments # 30-356 stamp set - made easy peasy because I used my Misti : )

This was one of the easiest cards I made! I simply stamped my wheat image from the Grateful #30-373 stamp set and colored it with my trusty Ziggys again!  Coloring this image was made easier because when I made this particular card I was in Jill Foster's home studio! crafting side by side this incredibly talented gal!
All I had to ask was:

"what the heck color is wheat anyway?!"

and naturally she knew the answer : )   Next I said to her.... ""I think I would like to use the Thankful die again" so she pulled one out already cut AND colored in a rich dark brown! perfect for my card. : ) What a team!! heeheehee  So again, the Thankful die is from  the Words of Gratitude # 51-071 Creative Dies trio.  When I was done with the art I popped my top panel up with foam and then  last but not least I added some soft soft splatters - SCAREY! but whew! it turned out great!

If you aren't familiar with Jill Foster - please introduce yourself at the Penny Black blog! Jill is PB's Social Media Director and incredibly talented - not to mention kind and sweet! : ) You won't want to leave the PB blog once you start looking at all of the outstanding creations pictured there! most? I think most - created by Jill - check out Jill's work HERE.

My favorite thing about this card is the fun sentiment.  I used a partial die and a partial stamp from these two sets:  Stylish Gratitude die #51-122 and Words of Kindness #30-353.  The pretty sunflower is from the set called Grateful # 30-373. This card was so fun to do.  I was in Ziggy heaven!

This is my last card for this week's Fun Friday! You can see it was a pretty easy one. I started with water color paper and inked up the bottom portion. Next I colored my pumpkins with... yep! Zigs. Finally with the help of my Misti I Ombre inked up my sentiment.

There it was a pretty water colored perfectly good panel and I sliced it in two and splattered a bunch of ink on it before mounting it to my black card base with foam tape! LOL talk about nerve wracking! I sometimes have nightmares of perfect cards being ruined by ink splatters! : p

Both the pumpkin image and the sentiment for this card are from Autumn Splendor #30-372.

Hey! good job you made it to the end of this post!! Thank you for hanging in there with me : ) Now for the really good stuff! : )

Oh Baby! Serendipity Stamps Blog Hop

In the middle of each month the Design Team members for Serendipity Stamps get to dazzle you with beautiful and creative designs using Serendipity Stamps and Dies! When you hop with us today you will find yourselves visiting paper crafters from California to the Carolinas and... lest we forget!.... Canada! : )

So what do you say?! let's get hopping!!

In following with our Hop theme this month "Baby Cards" I created this little 4" square card from all white card stock.  I added a top panel that I ran through my Big Shot with a quilted Embossing Folder. The picture doesn't show it well but I wanted to give that soft baby quilt look to my card : ) Next I cut three "Baby" die cuts and glued them together and attached them to the card front.  My flowers might surprise you! This is the stamp I used to create them:

Surprised? I love this Tulip Vase image just as it is but for my card today I didn't use the image as it was designed.  Instead I stamped the image on water color paper - colored the pretty flowers with Ziggys before fussy cutting them out of the vase and adding them to my baby card.  Using partial images this way really stretches your stamp inventory!!

You should have arrived here form Miriam Napier's blog but just in case you snuck in the back door - there is a "Hop Listing Order" below.  Please be sure to hit us all.  You won't want to miss even one blog because there will be a $20.00 gift certificate to Serendipity Stamps store to one lucky, randomly selected, commenter from all the blogs : ) Hoppers can leave comments through 8/21/16. The winner will be announced on Mary's blog on 8/22/16.

I don't know about you but I can't get enough of those beautiful little babies or of Serendipity Stamps' sweet baby themed products! Here is just one more little 4" square card I created using the Baby Bootie and Bow Die as well as an altered "A Little Note" image.

Serendipity Stamps is offering some pretty terrific incentive to get you in the mood to shop!! with a sale for 40% off the highest priced item in your cart. Use code “40fromhigh816” Sale good August 17-21. In addition to that you will enjoy this darling little "Stamp of The Month" at 50% off the regular price!

Click Here and save 50% off this STOM!

Thank you for hopping with us today. If we've inspired you and you want to join the fun we are having please consider joining our Serendipity Stamps monthly challenge where we are looking for Fabric on your card! Just add a swatch of fabric, length of lace or ribbon, or other fabric to your design. Feeling creative? Try stamping on fabric, or die cutting fabric embellishments to add to your design.
