Another Fun Friday with Patti and Penny

Happy Friday friends : )   Can you believe this is the last day of November!?! Before we know it we will be saying.... can you believe this is the last day of 2018!  You know what they say.... "times flies when you are having fun"..... so that must explain it! because I have been having lots of fun with the new Neighborhood Border die from Penny Black's Welcome Winter 2018 collection.

This cityscape is covered with snow and topped with Wink of Stella like frosting on the cake.   I really wish the WoS showed up in pictures but trust me it is as pretty as new fallen snow on Christmas morning!

I also created a couple of little gift card enclosure cards measuring 2.75 x 3.75"

For this card I embossed a portion of the "Flourishing Tree" image in Detail White embossing powder - an elegant backdrop backdrop for this proud buck.

That is all for me today.  What will you be working on this weekend friends??

Next Friday I have more fun to share including these little darlings!! I hope you won't be too busy to come see me and Penny. : )

Fun Friday with Patti and Penny

I'm here today with another Fun Friday post to show off some terrific new product from Penny Black's newest release, Welcome Winter 2018.

Are you stuffed!?! I hope you had a tremendous Thanksgiving celebration and that you didn't eat too much.  It kind of looks like my Artic friend may have over indulged!  heeheehee

Perhaps the designer of this image never had this kind of card in mind but I thought his expression could be easily interpreted as a get well soon card or... don't worry about getting older type of  birthday card. : )

Here is another way to look at him - gazing at the tiny little gift before him in anticipation!

I really love the frozen icicles from the Winter Roof die collection.  They give a chilly feel to the scene don't you think?! : )

Be sure to check out the cool! new stuff from the Welcome Winter 2018 collection at the Penny Black store.

On the Move and a CAS Birthday

Today is my BIL, John's birthday : ) and I created this card for him.  It is kind of hard to make masculine cards... at least it is for me.  I'm good with pink and flowery but when it comes time to "guy cards" I go blank.  When I saw this image in  Penny Black's new Welcome Winter release I thought it would be a perfect image for a birthday card or even a Sympathy card.... not that John's birthday is synonymous with sorrow! giggles!

I want to enter my card in the AAA Cards challenge where the challenge is "On the Move"  I also want to join my old friends and team mates at Seize The Birthday for the CAS birthday card challenge going on over there right now.  I hope you'll join me in the gallery at these two great challenge blogs!!

In honor of my BIL I invite you to eat some cake! and do something you LOVE today!! Happy Birthday John and please give my kid sister a BIG hug : )

Fun Friday with Patti & Penny

Hello friends : )

Who could dread winter when it is associated with little darlings like these? : )

I did some masking and polka dotting for my cards today.  On the first card I stamped my sweet polar bear and then covered him up with a mask.  Next I masked off a center section with some Post It™ tape (love that stuff!) then I sponged some blue dye ink around the perimeter of the opening before sponging over my stencil to make polka dots appear.   I pulled off all the masks and stamped my sentiment in the same ink I used to sponge with.  I did some real pale highlights on the bear and then wrapped him in a robe of Wink of Stella from head to toe!

For my second card I masked off a section on the left side of the card and lightly sponged some pink and LIME green (not yellow like it looks in the picture).  Then I stamped my fun scene and colored it ever so lightly.  Wink of Stella made it's way to this card as well. *wink* Then as if to wrap up my card like a present I glued on two narrow strips of card stock, added a bow and a snowflake and put it in the Christmas card pile! : )

I am making good progress on my cards this year but still have oh so many more to make! How is your Christmas card making task coming along?

Both of these cards were created with an adorable stamp set called "Christmas Bunch" from Penny Black's new Welcome Winter 2018 release.  Check out the entire new release HERE.

That is it for me today.  I am going to set my card making aside for a few days and focus on a watercolor painting I've been working on for a couple of weeks.  I am painting a sprig of Cherry Blossoms for a friend's December wedding gift.  It is coming along nicely but I'm struggling with finding the right mix of color for the leaves.  They are a reddish orange color and I can't seem to find it in my pallet no matter what combination of colors I mix.  I will share a picture of it when I finish it. : )

Have a great weekend!

Freshly Ironed Shirt

Hello friends : ) Today I want to share a card I created inspired by the  Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I needed a thank you card for my BFF's Mom who recently sent me some new shirts!! This mom is so sweet.  She often sends a little gift assortment to my BFF and almost always includes something for me.  It is cool stuff like multi colored shower caps or little jackets for your lemon wedges or my favorite toothpaste! It's wild!! I guess she just shops for bargains and then passes them along.  Well, when my friend returned from spending several weeks with her Mom she brought me several bran new shirts that her Mom had been collecting for me!!  : )

Here is the Thank You card I will be sending her : ) and the card I will be entering in the FMS challenge. Perhaps you will join me in the gallery too!

Thanks a bunch for stopping by!! Have a wonderful day.

Fun Friday with Patti and Penny Black

Fun Friday with Patti and Penny

Welcome to my weekly post where I get to share some beautiful new products from Penny Black's newest release "Welcome Winter 2018

This week I wanted to showcase the versatility of the snowy scene in the "Winter Days" stamp set.  Each year I make between 35 and 55 Christmas cards so I try to design cards that are not terribly time consuming.  The cards I will share with you today were incredibly fast and easy to make.

For my first card I began by masking the card face with 1" Post It Tape™.  I sponged a light dusting of pink ink on the upper portion and the same light dusting in blue on the lower portion of the opening.
Next I expanded my mask a little on three sides but left the 1" mask on the lower portion in tact before I stamped the snowy scene in black ink.  I removed all the masking and added my sentiment and beautiful die cut deer.  It might have taken me me longer to write up how I created the card than it took to make it! : )

My second card was even easier to make.  I stamped the entire snowy scene using Versafine, Smokey Gray, ink.  Then I stamped my sentiment in a dark red.  Done!! : )

Another perfect fit for this image is for a Sympathy Card.  Unfortunately winter time is a time we seem to need more of these kinds of cards.  I love how this card turned out.  I added a shimmer to the falling snow and the snow on the ground using Wink of Stella. It is elegant while being respectful.

With only a few minor adjustments this card would also work as a Christmas card or a masculine winter birthday card.

That is it for another Fun Friday post : ) I hope you enjoy your weekend.  Any fun plans?? I'm planning some time in my craft room.  I have agreed to make 20 Christmas Cards for my step Mother for a gift my sisters and I are cooking up.  Penny Black's  "Welcome Winter" release. couldn't have come out at a better time for me!

Whatever it is you get to do this weekend I hope you will be smiling as you do it!!

Thankful for you

Hello friends : ) How is November treating you so far? This is our first New Mexico fall and we are loving it!! Today my husband and I took a 9 mile bike ride.  It was 75 here today! Thank you Jesus!!

I thought I would share a card I made that I would like to enter in one of my favorite challenges.

I wanted a CAS, faux one layer, card that appeared to have dimension. Starting with a Cream colored A2 panel I stamped my sentiment and then scored a line underneath to accentuate the sentiment without adding bulk. Unfortunately the score line is not super easy to see in the picture.  Next I die cut my sprig of foliage. I set the die aside for a future project and then mounted the Cream panel to a Kraft card base.

Inside I added a Cream panel and stamped the image directly on to it.  I added my sentiment and now it is ready to send to someone I am VERY grateful for : )

The "Inspired by Words"  challenge at Time Out Challenges is:

I'm so very grateful for the friends the Lord has brought in to my life. : )

I hope you will consider playing along with the Time Out Challenge.  Please don't fail to check out the blogs of the talented DT .  You'll be so inspired!

Fun Friday with Patti & Penny #3

Oh my goodness where did this week go? and while you are searching - where did October go?!

Happy November everyone and welcome to my self proclaimed weekly event:

Fun Friday with Patti & Penny

That's me and Penny Black and some pretty terrific product that is new in the Welcome Winter 2018 release.

For my cards today I focused on Red and White, my favorite color combination for holiday cards.

Card #1 uses the small spray of flowers from the Joyful Holiday #30-497 stamp set as well as the "Hello" from Holiday Hello #51-460 colored with Prisma Pencils.

Card #2 uses a sentiment from the new set called Christmas Bunch #30-520 as well as a couple of my "old" favorite products, Gingerbread Cottage #51-371 and Scrolls Half Edger #51-446.  I thought the scrolls made the perfect impression of swirling snow : ) tied up with some red and white Baker's Twine.

Card #3 uses a beautiful sentiment from the  Smile All Season stamp set #30-516 as well as another image from the Joyful Holiday #30-497 set - a sweet vintage mail box.  I added a dusting of Wink of Stella to the snow but unfortunately it doesn't show up in the picture. I used another one of my "old" favorite Penny Black products called Border Edgers #51-231 to simulate drifting snow that I attached with foam tape for added dimension.

All three of my cards were QAEP  -  quick and easy peasy!! : )

What are your plans for the weekend?  After a week of washing windows inside and out we are treating ourselves to a trip to El Paso where there is a HUGE craft fair going on.  : ) It was actually my husband's idea!! Yep! he's a keeper! : )

Have a wonderful weekend! and thanks so much for stopping by!
